Alumni and friends are invited to a reception with special guests UCR Chancellor UCR Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox and Assistant Adjunct Professor Charles Cai. Connect with fellow San Diego alumni, UCR parents, and friends as we explore how UCR's focus on Emerging Technologies is impacting our world.

Dr. Cai is an assistant research engineer at CE-CERT and assistant adjunct professor of chemical & environmental engineering in the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering at UCR. Recently named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List in the energy category, Cai cofounded MG Fuels to commercialize a biofuels process he helped develop at the UCR that reduces the amount of enzymes used to breakdown biomass to make ethanol.

Alumni and friends are invited to a reception with special guests UCR Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox and Distinguished Professor Michael Allen. Connect with fellow Seattle alumni, UCR parents, and friends as we explore how UCR’s focus on Renewable Nature is paving the way to a healthier planet.

Dr. Allen is a distinguished professor in the departments of plant pathology and microbiology, and biology in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and director of the Center for Conservation Biology at UCR. He will discuss carbon, climate and UCR: the focus on understanding and documenting carbon cycling and how that understanding can be used to better approach alternative energy strategies.

Examine the concept of Renewable Nature, and learn how UCR’s environmental, energy, and sustainable development research solutions are creating a healthier planet. The event will include a panel discussion featuring Distinguished Professor Michael Allen, Associate Professor Juliann Allison, Professor Marilyn Fogel, Associate Professor Louis Santiago, Assistant Professor Emma Aronson, and Professor Susan Straight. A reception to close the evening will showcase artwork by Kellie Flint (MFA) and other academic displays.
